Sybase Downloads for Free
Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) can be downloaded and installed from Sybase free of change for a number of different operating systems.
There are some restrictions on some of the versions, but they are certainly very good for development and educational purposes.

There were essentially three things that I needed to know to turn the download into a working sybase installation.
- Run setup.exe to start the process. Answer the stright forward questions as asked.
- Start the Windows Service whose name begins 'Sybase SQLServer...'.
(Start-->Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.)
- The default login name is sa with no password.
Note: For additional information, please refer to the Sybase Online Installation Guide.
